Nancy has been a registered dietitian for the past 17 years. She was raised in the restaurant business in Northern Ontario and admits she comes from a "food family." This is where she started her lifelong passion for cooking and serving healthy food. Nancy has been teaching nutrition and cooking for the past 19 years and is an expert in many areas including diabetes, heart health and vegetarianism. She teaches people to work with whole grains, legumes, fresh herbs and locally produced foods in order to improve their health and enjoy a return to "slower foods." Nancy enjoys empowering people to assess and improve their own diets and lifestyles whether it be for good health or to help manage chronic diseases or nutrition problems like food allergies.
She has a wide variety of work experiences including managing catering operations and institutional nutrition and food services in acute and long-term care centres. Nancy has developed college nutrition curriculum and has worked as a part-time nutrition professor in the Food and Nutrition Management program, School of Hospitality at Canadore College since 2002. She continues to consult with the food industry to develop new products and take them to market. Currently Nancy provides a wide range of consultative services such recipe, product and menu development, cooking and food demonstration, computerized nutrient analysis, nutritional labeling, market research for the government and food industry and more.
